Thirteen years ago, on June 12, 2011, Wizkid debuted his first album, ‘Superstar,’ under Banky W’s EME label, marking the beginning of his meteoric rise to fame. .The album, comprising 17 tracks, featured collaborations with industry heavyweights like Wande Coal, Skales, Banky W, and D’ Prince, yielding hit singles such as ‘Holla At Your Boy,’ ‘No Lele,’ and ‘Pakurumo.’

To commemorate the anniversary, Wizkid took to social media, hinting at a potential pop-up show. ‘Superstar’ revolutionized Nigerian music with its vibrant Afropop sound, earning Wizkid numerous accolades, including Album of the Year at the 2011 Nigeria Entertainment Awards and the prestigious Headies 2011 Next Rated Award.

Thirteen years later, the ‘Superstar’ album remains a seminal work in Nigerian mainstream music, renowned for its timeless quality and profound influence on future generations of artists.

Since his debut, Wizkid has released four more albums, including ‘Ayo (Joy)’ in 2014, ‘Sound From The Other Side’ in 2017, the Grammy-nominated ‘Made In Lagos’ in 2020, and ‘More Love, Less Ego’ in 2022.

Looking ahead, he is poised to unveil his sixth album, ‘Morayo,’ in honor of his late mother, further solidifying his status as a musical icon in the Nigerian and global music landscape.
