Wunmi, the young widow of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, has taken to social media to make an emotional plea, urging the public to intervene and demand that her father-in-law finally lay her husband to rest.
Since Mohbad’s tragic passing in September 2023, his burial has remained in limbo, leaving his grieving widow in a state of prolonged sorrow and frustration. On March 12, 2025, Wunmi expressed the depth of her pain in a heartbreaking social media post, lamenting that her husband’s body has remained in the morgue far longer than she ever imagined.
The pain of his absence, she revealed, has only grown heavier with each passing day, making it unbearable for her to continue enduring such an indefinite wait.
In her emotionally charged message, Wunmi poured out her soul, sharing the agony of living without the man she vowed to love forever. She reflected on the harrowing reality of waking up every morning to an existence she never asked for—one defined by an aching void that nothing can fill.
“It has been 18 months,” she wrote, struggling to capture the magnitude of her suffering. “Eighteen months of missing him with every breath I take. Eighteen months of an emptiness that words cannot describe.”
She spoke of the immeasurable loss, the sheer devastation of losing a partner so suddenly, and the torment of knowing that his remains still lie cold in a morgue rather than being granted the peace and dignity of a proper burial.
With a heart weighed down by grief, Wunmi directed her plea to the public, desperately asking for their support in urging Mohbad’s father to do the right thing. She questioned the reasoning behind the continued delay, emphasizing that there was no justification for why her husband’s body remained in limbo for so long.
“To the general public,” she wrote, “I am pleading with you—help me ask my father-in-law to bury my husband. There is no reason why his body is still in the morgue after all this time. No reason why the man I vowed to love forever has been left in cold storage, denied the dignity of a final resting place.” Her words echoed a raw and painful truth, one that resonated deeply with those who have followed her heartbreaking journey.
Beyond her grief, Wunmi also spoke about the unbearable burden she has had to carry as a widow—one compounded by public scrutiny, unrelenting judgment, and the sheer cruelty of a world that seems to find entertainment in her suffering. “I am not just a widow,” she declared.
“I am a woman whose entire world was shattered in an instant. A woman forced to carry not only her grief but the weight of injustice.
