Former child star Benji Gregory, best known for his role in the 1980s sitcom ALF, has died at the age of 46. His sister, Rebecca Pfaffinger, announced on social media that he was found dead in his car along with his assistance dog, Hans, last month. Gregory reportedly fell asleep in the vehicle in an Arizona car park and died of heatstroke, with his dog also succumbing to the heat.
Pfaffinger expressed her sorrow on Facebook, describing her brother as a great son, brother, and uncle who brought joy and laughter to their family. She noted that while going through his belongings, she found moments of levity amidst her grief.
She explained that Gregory likely went to his car to deposit residual checks and never got out, falling asleep and dying from vehicular heatstroke.Gregory’s sister shared that he struggled with depression, bipolar disorder, and a sleep disorder that often kept him awake for days.
Gregory appeared in all four seasons of ALF, playing the character Brian, the son of the Tanner family, in over 100 episodes. In addition to ALF, he appeared in television shows such as The A-Team and T. J. Hooker.
