Ian Gelder, renowned for his role as Kevan Lannister in Game of Thrones, has passed away at 74. His husband, actor Ben Daniels, shared the heartbreaking news, describing Gelder as his rock over their 30-year relationship.

Gelder battled bile duct cancer since December, succumbing to it on Monday afternoon. Daniels fondly remembered Gelder’s resilience and love, sharing a Christmas photo taken after Gelder’s hospital discharge, showcasing his enduring joy.

Gelder’s portrayal of Kevan Lannister, Lord Tywin’s loyal brother, left a lasting impact on Game of Thrones fans. Despite initially appearing in the opening season, Gelder returned for later seasons, meeting his character’s end in season six.

Beyond Thrones, Gelder’s versatile career included roles in Torchwood: Children Of Earth, His Dark Materials, and Doctor Who, demonstrating his breadth as an actor.
