In the latest report from the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN) published on July 5, 2024, detailing the top 10 highest-grossing films from June 28 to July 4, 2024, “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” maintained its top position since its release on June 7, 2024, grossing ₦46.7 million for the week and accumulating a total gross of ₦334 million.
Following closely, the new Hollywood film “Quiet Place: Day One,” starring Lupita Nyong’o, secured second place with ₦40.9 million in earnings. Notably, “Lakatabu,” an Indigenous Nollywood epic written and produced by Odunlade Adekola, claimed the third spot, grossing ₦40.1 million during the week and reaching a cumulative total of ₦105.1 million since its release.
Other films in the top 10 include the Nollywood comedy “Muri and Ko,” directed by Biodun Stephen, which earned ₦16.8 million and took fourth place, accumulating approximately ₦90 million since its release on June 12, 2024.
“Despicable Me 4,” an American animated comedy, secured fifth place with ₦11.9 million in earnings since its release on June 28, 2024. “Inside Out 2,” a Hollywood family comedy, grossed ₦9.27 million for the week, maintaining its sixth position with a total of ₦47.6 million in gross earnings.
Further down the list, “Kalki 2898 AD,” a Hollywood epic science fiction film directed by Nag Ashwin, took seventh place with a weekly gross of ₦8.3 million and a total of ₦8.6 million since its release.
“Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” followed in eighth place with a weekly gross of ₦4 million and a total of ₦143.1 million since May 24, 2024. “Criminal,” released on May 31, 2024, earned ₦21.1 million for the week, accumulating ₦52.2 million in total, securing ninth place.
Lastly, “Offshoot,” which premiered on June 14, 2024, grossed ₦1.67 million for the week, with a cumulative total of ₦11.7 million, rounding out the top 10 highest-grossing films in Nigeria for the given period.
