“Up NEPA,” a documentary directed by Ishaya Bako, is poised for its premiere in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on May 9. Bako, known for his acclaimed documentaries, sheds light on Nigeria’s electricity woes through interviews with everyday citizens and industry experts.

The film delves into the persistent issues plaguing Nigeria’s power sector, including unreliable electricity supply and its far-reaching consequences on individuals, businesses, and the economy.

In addition, interviews with industry figures such as Patrick Okigbo and Bart Nnaji offer insights into historical changes, government reforms, and future prospects within the power sector.

The director expresses gratitude for the opportunity to share this long-awaited project with audiences, highlighting the film’s analysis of Nigeria’s struggle to meet its electricity demands despite being a major energy producer.

Scheduled for premiere in Abuja, the documentary will later be accessible for free on its website. Bako acknowledges the support of the MacArthur Foundation and his team at Griot Studios for bringing the project to fruition.

Partnering with ‘The Electricity Hub,’ the premiere aims to spark dialogue among stakeholders and guests, fostering collaboration towards finding solutions to Nigeria’s enduring electricity challenges.

Through an interactive session, participants will explore pathways for addressing the issues highlighted in the documentary, aiming to pave the way for positive change in Nigeria’s power sector.
