Thorpe Park’s new rollercoaster, Hyperia, which has been promoted as the tallest and fastest in the UK, shut down just a day after its grand opening. The rollercoaster stands at 236 feet and reaches speeds of up to 81 mph, attracting significant attention and excitement from the public.
However, the theme park announced on its X page that Hyperia would be closed from Sunday, May 26th to Wednesday, May 29th due to unforeseen circumstances.
In their statement, Thorpe Park apologized for the disappointment caused by the sudden closure and assured visitors that they are working diligently to resolve the issues and reopen the ride as soon as possible.
They wrote:
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are unable to open Hyperia between Sunday 26th-Wednesday 29th May,”
“We apologise for the disappointment this will cause and we are working hard to reopen Hyperia as soon as possible.”
They also offered a solution for those affected by the closure, stating that anyone who had pre-booked tickets for the dates during the closure period would be able to reschedule their visit for another day at no additional cost.
The rollercoaster’s opening day on Friday saw large crowds eager to experience the new attraction, with some visitors reportedly waiting over five hours to ride Hyperia.
The anticipation and high turnout on the first day underscored the ride’s popularity and the significant interest it generated among thrill-seekers.
Despite the setback, Thorpe Park remains committed to ensuring the safety and satisfaction of its guests. The park’s efforts to promptly communicate the issue and provide alternatives for ticket holders reflect their dedication to customer service.
As the team works to bring Hyperia back into operation, many enthusiasts are looking forward to its return and the chance to experience the record-breaking ride.
